The Western Flames Ice Racing Club

Last Sunday saw 8 skaters on the ice for a technical session in the art of short track speed skating. We had age groups from Masters all the way down to Nippers.

The skaters were taught the fundamentals of the basic skating positions – some in speed skates, some in hire skates.

The skaters then went onto the track and competed in a couple of fun races to finish off the session.

Although the club prefers that skaters have participated in the early levels of Xtreme Ice Arena’s ‘Learn to Skate’ program, we offer the first session free, during which time we can make an assessment of your basic skating skills.

The WFIRC and the WAISSA fully promote participation, leading to healthy lifestyles and fitness. We also support skaters wishing to pursue the more elite level of the sport, leading to competing at National and International events.
